Sponsorships - give a child a better future
There are seven billion people on earth – almost half of its population is below the age of 25. Malnutrition, lack of education and inadequate health care are the reasons many children suffer in developing and emerging countries. Their wish for proper education and a stable future is most often unfulfilled. Especially children living in African countries affected by HIV/Aids are in critical situations when they lose one or both of their parents.
Kinderhilfswerk Stiftung Global-Care was also confronted with unfamiliar challenges because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our goal is to help children in need, and it was important to us to maintain this as our highest priority, even in a global pandemic.
Our aid measures were extended to protect people from the virus, which include clean water, hygiene trainings and medical care:
We still provide for the child you sponsor, even if:
- schools are closed
- day labourers do not receive work
- pandemic restrictions make it difficult to travel
- Some of our children, who are usually accommodated in day care centres and boarding schools live at home for the time being
Your sponsor child and their family regularly receive food packages and hygiene articles such as soap, disinfectant and masks to cover their faces. Our local project partners are available by phone for the families to provide help, insight and support.

1 to 1 Sponsorships – The Most Direct and Personal Way You can Help
With a sponsorship, you can make a difference in a child’s life by enabling them to go to school and cover necessities. And as the sponsor you always know who receives your support. Your donation helps a child live a dignified and promising life. This has an impact on your life, too: you become part of something bigger and help change the future of our world for the better. So, start changing the future now. We offer two ways you can help:
1. Sponsor a Child: You receive sponsor sheet containing a picture and important information about the life circumstances of the child. When you become a sponsor, you are kept up-to-date with the progress and development of the child you support. You can even have direct contact with them by sending each other letters. The children are either cared for within their family, in boarding schools or at day care centres.
2. Fund a spot for a child: By donating regularly, you ensure a place for a child in one of our facilities. This is especially important for children who do not have a place to call home and have to be rehabilitated. There is always a child who occupies the spot, although the children and their families can change frequently.

How You Can Help
It takes 39 EURO per month to sponsor a child or fund a spot:
- 33 EURO are used for the monthly care of the child you support. This includes gifts for the child and a fund reserve for education and special emergencies.
- 6 EURO are used for sponsor care, information and administration. Any surpluses in this area will be put to use for projects in the countries of operation at the end of the year.
